Overview
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Process Engineer I is responsible for achieving the highest level of reliability for plant equipment through committed support for the Global Performance System (GPS), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and strong ownership of the Maintenance Excellence process within the plant. The Engineer will have a challenging variety of responsibilities to lead and support the 5S / Daily Team Maintenance (DTM) pillar. The 5S process is utilized to organize and maintain the workplace environment to increase productivity and safety, reduce waste and eliminate non value-added activities. DTM will ensure the proactive prevention of equipment breakdowns and off-quality and result in process continuous improvement, reliability, stability and sustainable results.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Work closely with all partners and vendors to develop strategies and programs to drive process improvements
- Support Lean-Six Sigma, DMAIC and TPM processes, reviews and audits
- Have direct involvement in standardization / improvements related to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Process Optimization and Improvement : Analyzing current slitting processes to identify inefficiencies and developing new methods to increase throughput, reduce waste, work closely with other process engineers and production team to prevent defects from print / lamination heading to slitting. Standardize process of splicing / flagging material, maximize roll / pallet qty.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving : Diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues with slitting machinery and processes, such as uneven tension, misalignment, or material defects. New to IMS - setting of shear knives for optimum cuts on the new IMS, equipment programing on how stop at flags, change out the complete counter-knife assembly
- Quality : Implementing and monitoring quality control measures, ensuring that all slitted products meet precise customer specifications
- Equipment Management : Working with operators, maintenance department, and equipment suppliers, evaluating and recommending new technology or tooling replenishment
- Data Analysis and Reporting : Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting production data to monitor performance, identify trends, and report findings to senior management.
- Training : Developing technical training materials and conducting training sessions for slitter operators and maintenance personnel to enhance team competence and ensure adherence to best practices.
Position is located out of Mississauga, ON facility and 100% onsite
