Join our team as a Senior Tax Associate! In this role you’ll review corporate tax returns, provide review notes and complete projects within deadlines. You’ll research tax issues using primary sources of information, including preparation of memos within deadlines.
This position is open to candidates located anywhere in Canada.
What Will You Be Doing?
Tax Compliance
- Reviewing monthly indirect tax (GST / HST / PST / QST / Sales and Use tax) filings and reconciliations across Canadian and US entities, and approve / post associated journal entries
- Reviewing and preparing annual corporate tax returns across multiple entities and liaise with external tax advisors and auditors as needed
- Coordinating assistance to doctors undergoing CRA and / or provincial audits where needed
- Reviewing Canadian and US tax provision and year end tax note disclosures, and approve / post associated journal entries
Tax Planning and Advisory
Working closely with the M&A team to advise on tax considerations and suggest tax planningMonitoring and reporting on changes in tax legislationIdentifying and implementing opportunities for tax planningTax presentations to senior executives and board membersResearching tax issues related to various business initiatives as neededProcess Improvement
Identifying and implementing processes and process efficiencies / controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of work performed by tax teamDeveloping and implementing best practices to enhance the efficiency of tax operationsCross Team Collaboration
Supporting onboarding of new doctors acting as a subject matter expert on tax driven doctor compensation modelsWorking with other business operation leaders (IT, Financial Reporting etc.) to identify and resolve tax issues as they ariseAs the Successful Candidate You Have :
A bachelor’s degree in business (accounting or finance)CPA designation is requiredMinimum 1 year post designation experience3+ years experience in corporate taxCompleted or pursuing CICA In-depth tax coursePrevious experience working in Canadian tax preferably in a public accounting firmTax planning and compliance associated with purchase and sale of private companiesStrong knowledge of Canadian tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirementsKnowledge and experience in US tax and cross border tax issues and compliance a strong assetAdvanced proficiency in ExcelExperience preparing and filing corporate tax returns using TaxPrep software or CCH iFirmExperience with large private company tax servicesExperience with multinational enterprises is considered an assetExposure to international tax and transfer pricing is considered an assetExcellent planning, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, and communication (both verbal and written) skillsSelf-starter with strong problem solving and organizational skillsHelp develop new ideas and propose innovative solutions to problemsCollaborate and build relationships with teammates with cross functional teamsUphold the company’s code of ethicsStrong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all tasksHow You'll Benefit working at our Home Office :
