The Facility Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting the planning, dimensioning, procurement, installation, and maintenance of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and associated equipment and installations. This position is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of tunneling activities for the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations Project. Reporting to the Tunnel Construction Manager, the Facility Manager’s key responsibilities will include :
Duties :
- Collaborating with project stakeholders to develop comprehensive plans for the installation and operation of the TBM and associated facilities
- Assessing spatial requirements and ensuring adequate dimensioning of the facilities to accommodate equipment and personnel
- Identifying and evaluating suitable vendors and suppliers for TBM and associated equipment
- Coordinating procurement processes in compliance with project guidelines and budget constraints.
- Preparing and negotiating contracts and agreements with vendors to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials
- Overseeing the installation of TBM and associated equipment according to project specifications and safety standards
- Coordinating with construction teams to facilitate seamless integration of facilities into the project site using schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules
- Conducting quality inspections to ensure proper installation and functionality of equipment
- Developing and implementing preventative maintenance schedules for TBM and associated facilities
- Preparing progress reports and coordinating maintenance activities with internal teams and external service providers
- Responding promptly to equipment failures and breakdowns, troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to facility management and equipment operation
- Implementing quality control programs and safety protocols and procedures to mitigate risks associated with tunneling operations
- Conducting regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, civil engineering or a related field is required10+ years’ experience in acquiring and maintaining equipment for heavy civil infrastructure similar projectsProven experience in facility management, preferably in the construction or infrastructure sectorsStrong project management skills, with the ability to manage tasks and priorities simultaneouslyFamiliarity with tunneling operations and equipment, particularly Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), is highly desirableKnowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and safety standardsKnowledge of construction documentation managementAdvanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)Experience with various document control software (Project and Mind Maps, AutoCAD, Solidworks, 3DS Max)Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issuesExcellent verbal and communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across all levels of organizationEmployment Address : 301 – 2 Queen St. West, Toronto, ON, M5H 0B5
