Position: Project Director – Major Rail Projects
Location: Lachine, QC (100% On Site)
Salary: $125,000 – $150,000 + 10% bonus
Benefits: Full benefits 10% annual bonus, 4% RRSP match, telemedicine
About the Role
Our client, a leader in rail repair, conversion, and modernization for over half a century, is seeking a seasoned Project Director to lead large-scale, multi-year rail initiatives valued in the multi-million-dollar range.
This newly created role offers the opportunity to take full ownership of major projects from planning to execution, ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and in alignment with contractual and quality standards. Reporting directly to the VP of Business Development & Projects, the Project Director will drive strategic coordination, resource management, and client communication across all phases of the project.
Key Responsibilities
-Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of project delivery, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, timelines, and budgets.
-Provide leadership in project scheduling, forecasting, and performance tracking, identifying risks and proposing effective solutions.
-Supervise multidisciplinary teams (engineering, procurement, operations) in a matrix environment.
-Act as the main liaison for all stakeholders — internal departments, clients, and suppliers — ensuring clear, consistent communication.
-Implement and maintain control systems for project documentation, budget, and schedules.
-Prepare progress reports, forecasts, and executive briefings to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead project review meetings and foster collaboration across teams to drive results.
-Promote continuous improvement in project management processes and delivery efficiency.
What We’re Looking For
-Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent.
-Minimum 10 years of experience in project management or operations in a manufacturing or industrial environment (rail experience is a must).
-PMP certification required.
-Proven leadership with strong communication and coordination skills.
-Skilled in budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation for complex, multi-million-dollar projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
-OIQ membership considered an asset.
