Roles and Responsibilities
Responsible for incident management, including prevention (e.g. hazard assessments and management), first response and corrective action. Also responsible for communicating any incidents to Corporate OfficeImmediately report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents to managementMonitor and provide direction with the start-up and shut-down of sitesAudit areas to ensure compliance of Company standardsManage preventative programs in line with legislation and Company requirements, e.g. fire managementIdentify improvement opportunity by monitoring workplace injuries and incidents and develop action plansResponsible for the management of records and documentation related to OHS&E within the divisionAssist in the management of the Drug and Alcohol Program as required for testing and post-incident situationsSend monthly statistics to Senior Management and Corporate Office (mileage, orientations etc.)Liaison to the General ContractorsEnsure accuracy and relevance with continuous improvement through review and development of policies and proceduresEnsure awareness, engagement and compliance of employees and managersConduct new employee orientation, including reviewing company policies and proceduresConduct gap analysis, organize training, conduct training and continually update training matrixMaintain records of employee safety training and the efficacy of the programsEffectively communicate and coordinate safety issues / dialogues with government agencies, medical representatives etc.Maintain confidentiality in dealing with employee records and business informationMaintain knowledge of all applicable OHS, CSA, ANSI standards and administrative practicesEnsure compliance to laws and regulations at Federal, Provincial and Municipal as well as Corporate levelsPerforms other duties as assignedRequired Skills

Completion of Grade 12 or GEDCompletion of NCSO would be an assetExperience in a Health and Safety role, usually evidenced by 3 years of experienceExperience with compliance and management system audits is an assetExperience working in the construction industry, specifically with Mechanical and Electrical trades, is an assetExperience writing safety plans, and emergency response plansAdditional Requirements
