The Nuclear Engineer will work directly with the senior management team, including the EVP of Engineering, and Chief Scientist, two of the most experienced space professionals in Canada. The position will support activities including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Reactor Physics, Nuclear Engineering, and will require a strong understanding of the nuclear business, policy, economics and regulatory environment. It will involve a mix of project management, problem solving, engineering, prototyping, technical drawings, producing studies and technical reports, as well as some business development.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop nuclear systems and technologies for space exploration and commercialization.
  • Utilize computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for the design of nuclear systems.
  • Understand and manage the regulatory environment for nuclear activities.
  • Provide support for business-related activities, including project management, proposal development, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage and carry out all relevant work packages in support of projects (e.g. study design, data collection, data interpretation and formulating additional work packages in pursuit of project goals).
  • To produce research reports and deliverables related to the project.
  • Technical writing in support of proposals, studies, and RFPs, as well as ongoing projects.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills Essential

  • Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering or a related field.
  • 4-5 years of experience working in a relevant industry for a nuclear energy company, engineering firm, or nuclear power consulting.
  • A solid understanding of the nuclear business, policy, economics, and regulatory environment.
  • Experience with nuclear analysis, including thermal-hydraulics and radiation shielding.
  • Technical skills in thermal and multi-physics analysis.
  • Strong background in CFD simulations and their applications.
  • Software skills required : CAD, COMSOL, Ansys, among others.
  • Experience with vibrations and acoustics loading
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • Passion for space exploration and commercialization.
  • Great communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent time management, documentation and organizational abilities.
  • The candidate must be a highly motivated self starter, capable of working through complex issues to solve problems that are not off the shelf. They should be capable of moving through setbacks and finding ways to persevere. Exceptional excel, powerpoint and communication skills are essential .

    Must be eligible to work in Canada , and able to attain appropriate security clearances requisite with an aerospace company of this type, and commensurate nuclear engineering position. Candidates will be subject to background checks.
