Aerospace Design Manager – Mechanical and Physical Engineering

Location – Montreal (Hybrid)

CapGemini Montreal are looking for an Aerospace Design Manager (Mechanical and Physical Engineering) with experience in people management as well as design and composites.

Management Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with collaborators to ensure performance.
  • Support business development for aerospace in North America.
  • Leads candidate selection / interview process. Work with Talent Acquisition to forecast hiring needs
  • Identify business / market trends and implement action plan to increase profits and performance.
  • Scale team size according to workload and provide employee transitions to new emerging roles
  • Develop team efficiency and implement improvements to increase company contribution margins.
  • Identify or support creation of learning paths related to new or important technologies, tools and / or methods for your team – connect team members with these learning paths as appropriate.
  • Lead workload for on-site team members and offshore team members to ensure multidisciplinary resources are well aligned to enhance delivery of projects.
  • Support purchase order with current and new clients.
  • Handle, tracking and billing all deliverables for design / integration team.
  • Provide coaching, goal setting with employees and initiate proactive employee project transitions.
  • Maintain relationship between client and identify opportunities to grow Capgemini portfolio

Technical Responsibilities :

  • Provide detail design for details, assemblies, kits, installations, NIEOs, WPICD, PVR’s, etc.
  • Collaborate with different functions such as harness manufacturer, aircraft interiors, methods, stress, systems, and support functions such as mass properties, M&P, etc.
  • Client interface and single point of contact for ongoing and new technical work
  • Review systems layouts, installations, assembly, and detail drawings.
  • Provide investigations for change authorities such as RFCs and PCRs.
  • Lead design changes through all the cycles of the organizational change process.
  • Provide technical solutions to resolve design or manufacturing issues.
  • Generate and implement cost and weight saving design change ideas.
  • Support directly other engineering and operations departments.
  • Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 10+ years experience in Airframe Design / System installation
  • Knowledge of Composites and Tubing : Metallic and Composite
  • Strong PLM (CATIA V5, ENOVIA) knowledge background including the CATIA Composite Module
  • Knowledge of Canadian Aerospace practices, standards, tools and processes
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience using Microsoft office Suite and Google Suite
  • Experience using Datalink or BDI, ICMS
