Description
Located out of our Calgary Head Office, the individual in this position will report to the Manager, Offgas Engineering and be responsible for providing technical support to the Offgas Operations Department. Assignments include analytics program development, general technical support, and possibly small project (MOC) coordination. The team includes a process engineer, instrumentation and controls engineer, mechanical engineer, project manager, programming specialist, draftsperson, and document control specialist.
Key Activities And Responsibilities
Analytics Program Development
- Work closely with cross functional teams to transform raw data into actionable insights
- Develop competency using PI Asset Framework (AF) software
Gather and integrate data into PI AF from various sources – including sensors, historians, and control systems – to :
Create and maintain asset models to provide context for operational dataImplement real‑time monitoring solutions to detect anomalies and deviations in asset performanceDevelop predictive maintenance models to proactively identify and address equipment failuresAnalyze operational data to optimize processes, reduce energy consumption, and enhance asset performance and efficiencyEvaluate asset health and condition by analyzing data trends and key performance indicatorsInvestigate and identify root causes of operational issues using historical data and analytics techniquesDevelop reports and dashboards to communicate key performance metrics and insights to stakeholdersIntegrate PI AF with other IT systems to ensure a holistic view of operationsUtilize Python for data analysis, scripting, and integration with PI AF and related technologiesGeneral Technical Support
Support Operations & Maintenance (O&M) program activities related to project execution, plant change implementation (MOCs), safety instrumented systems, preventative maintenance, reliability, optimization, and alarm managementConduct engineering research, troubleshooting, calculations, and simulationsUpdate and improve technical documentation (Data Sheets, P&IDs, Cause & Effect Matrices, etc.)Develop, manage, and / or maintain operational productivity reportsAssist with overall plant monitoring effortsManage small projects (MOCs)Travel to site as requiredEducation, Skills and Experience
Currently enrolled in a Canadian University Engineering program with a minimum of three years completed in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical EngineeringClass 5 Driver’s License preferredProficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, data visualization, and Python considered an assetEngineering or technical work experience considered an assetHours
Full Time (Internship), Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day. May 2026 – August 2027, 16 months.
