The Role: Internal Medicine Physician
- Join Our Team: Become an integral part of our team of three General Internists dedicated to providing high-quality care in the beautiful community of Powell River.
- Diverse Clinical Practice: Engage in both office and hospital-based care. Hospital duties include ER and ward consults, along with managing a 4-bed ICU.
- Critical Care and Coordination: Play a crucial role in stabilizing critically ill patients and coordinating their transfer to tertiary care centers.
- Balanced On-Call Schedule: Benefit from a manageable call requirement, with a rotation of 1 week every 3 weeks.
- State-of-the-Art Facilities: Work out of a shared outpatient office equipped with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and supported by excellent Medical Office Assistants (MOAs).
- Varied Practice Opportunities: In Powell River, your practice will be diverse and comprehensive, as there are no sub-specialists in town.

RURAL RECRUITMENT INCENTIVES
Rural Retention Program (RRP)
- Flat Fee: $13,668.48 annually ($3,417.12 paid quarterly) paid to any physician that permanently resides and practices in an eligible RSA community for a minimum 9 months per year and bills equal to or greater than $75,000 in the previous calendar year.
- Fee Premium (%): 8.82% paid on top of MSP billings or service contracts. In order to claim the Fee Premium, you must be physically located in the RSA community.
Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME)
- $0 during first 2 years in the community
- $3,000 annually in 3rd/4th year ($750 quarterly)
- $6,000 annually over 4 years ($1500 quarterly)
Note: Physicians must reside and practice in an eligible RSA community for at least 9 months per year.
Recruitment Incentive Fund (RIF)
- Up to $10,000 one-time payment, depending on FTE
Relocation Funding (Recruitment Contingency Fund)
- $9,000 (based on where you are relocating from – within BC)
- $12,000 (based on where you are relocating from – moving within Canada outside BC)
- $15,000 (based on where you are relocating from – moving from outside of Canada)
Rural CMPA Benefit (R-CMPA)
- R-CMPA (Canadian Medical Protective Association) provides eligible rural BC physicians with up to a 50% refund of CMPA fees. Physicians must permanently reside and practice in an eligible RSA community for a minimum of 9 months per year and bill equal to or greater than $75,000.

Education, Licensing, & Experience:
- Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License – Full
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Mandatory
