ACCOUNTABILITY & OBJECTIVE : Is responsible for the safety and security of the residence during the night and for responding to calls for assistance from residents. Is responsible for dealing with any emergencies, such as power outages, fire alarm, crisis controller, elevator alarm, etc. as the solo on site. Is responsible for janitorial duties in the common areas and responding to maintenance situations such as plugged toilets, light bulbs, check fuses, jammed keys, etc. BACKGROUND / QUALIFICATIONS : The incumbent must be a High School Graduate who has had some formal training in or prior proven experience in working professionally with senior clientele. Ability to maintain effective oral and written communications (in English) and have a positive self-projection, nurturing excellent human relations with residents, families and other team members. Interest and knowledge in security systems and procedures. Ability to respond to Alert System calls in a calm manner, and discern and prioritize need for 911, family involvement, Doctor or to offer assistance where appropriate. Ability to work with minimum supervision and be able to demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills. Certification in Level 1 Basic First Aid - Knowledge of WHMIS Experience in housekeeping and janitorial functions, general cleaning, vacuuming, etc. A person with a positive self-projection and ability to use initiative in problem solving. Flexibility and versatility. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Initiates and documents call in as per policy and procedure to replace staff who phone in to report that they will not be able to work their shift. Performs duties with an exemplary standard of skill and with a sense of responsibility. Ensures security of the residence and the residents during night shift Responds to resident calls, giving assistance where appropriate and contacting professional help when necessary. Maintains cleanliness of all common areas of residence as per current time guides. Studies floor plan layouts, fire manual and emergency plans and demonstrates familiarity with all phases of the alert system. Ensures effective team communication within the residence, logs any concerns re resident behavior or incidents in Communication Book. Demonstrates evidence of outstanding public relations with residents, staff and all persons visiting Gilmore Gardens Shares responsibility, through in-service and education, in safety standards of the residence. Handles all matters in a confidential manner Committed to excellence and delivering an outstanding experience for our residents. Performs all duties with an exemplary standard of skill and with a sense of responsibility
