Family Physician - Private Clinic

Overview

A full-time family practice position is available in Fernie, British Columbia, with coverage in the Sparwood area. The candidate would have their own panel of patients for which they provide longitudinal care and would share responsibility to provide coverage at the Sparwood Emergency Department. The Emergency Department is staffed with emergency-trained RNs with the support of a lab and x-ray technicians. The department averages 18 patients per day and operates from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no overnight in-person call requirement in Sparwood. The weekend (8 a.m. – 7 p.m.) and weekday evening call (4 p.m. – 7 p.m.) is 1 in 6. The Sparwood ED is supported by the High Acuity Response Team (HART) based out of Cranbrook. STARS service, based out of Alberta, can support Sparwood in emergency situations and is approximately a 55-minute flight from Calgary. There is an airstrip 15 minutes north of Sparwood for fixed-wing aircraft.

The candidate will have 43 days of vacation through the BC Rural Locum Program.
