This process is an "inventory," which allows you to submit your application over a period up to May 23, 2025. The evaluation of applications will be done continuously and in stages, starting with the validation of essential and asset experience and education, thus making it possible to identify which candidates have experience in each of the specialties sought.

Depending on our operational needs, candidates with appropriate specialization will be contacted to be formally assessed.

Duties

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) manages one of the largest and most diverse portfolios of real estate in the country and is the Government of Canada’s real property expert.

We are actively looking for motivated and energetic engineers and architects with a background in project management who are eager to work in a professional and dynamic organization.

The main duties of the position involve :

  • Managing and / or supporting project development and delivery from planning through construction and evaluation;
  • Providing strategic real property advice to clients, including cost-benefit analysis;
  • Providing contract administration from project definition through to construction and commissioning stage;
  • Conducting quality assurance and review
  • Managing and / or supporting the development of project management plans, designs, risk management and contingency plans, cost estimates and specifications

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this process is to staff vacant positions located in Edmonton and Yellowknife within the Environmental Services and Contaminated Sites Management Directorate (ESCSM).

The ESCSM team manages the remediation projects at contaminated sites in northern Canada. The job is office based but site visits and travel for meetings is required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day project management duties associated with delivering environmental remediation and closure projects.

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, acting, assignment, deployment, or secondment), and for various branches / locations within PSPC Western Region (Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Yellowknife, Iqaluit).

EDUCATION : AR-04 :

AR-04 :

Graduation with a degree in Architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution.

EN-ENG-03 :

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in civil engineering, environmental engineering, mining engineering, geological, mechanical and chemical engineering or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

EXPERIENCE :

Experience managing or leading aspects of contaminated site assessment and remediation projects.

Experience providing engineering support such as, but not limited to, reviewing or participating in the preparation of engineering or construction documents, reports, designs, drawings, specifications.

Experience in leading or managing contractors and / or consultants, and project teams, and liaising with clients.

Experience with engineering and / or construction procurement processes and contract management.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS :

Eligible for Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada

Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Canada in a discipline relevant to real property such as Environmental, Civil / Structural.

Licensed as an Architect in Canada.

PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification.

ASSET EXPERIENCE :

Experience in contaminated site assessment and remediation projects in northern and remote locations.

Experience in construction and / or engineering projects in a northern climate.

Experience in mining projects or mine reclamation projects.

Experience in the planning, design, construction, inspection and / or management of various infrastructure activities, such as earthworks / embankments, retention structures, water diversions, covers, and dams.

Experience working with the environmental regulatory framework in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Experience working with Indigenous groups and / or northern communities.
