Channel Manager

The main responsibility is to manage the distribution channel of the Amphenol Canada Military / Aerospace (“ACC Mil / Aero”) Marketing organization. This includes enhancing product marketing, sales support, setting strategic directions, customer support, and forecasting. This role involves engaging with internal and external customers, requiring an assertive and innovative approach. Advancement opportunities may include transitioning to a Business Development Manager or other roles within Amphenol. Key activities include contributing to sales goals and plans, developing marketing materials, and providing support for customers and sales.

What does a Channel Manager do?

  • Coordinate the product offerings from ACC's Mil / Aero divisions for sale through the distribution channel.
  • Organize product information, including drawings, models, and pricing, and make it accessible to customers and sales teams.
  • Determine distribution pricing and strategy in collaboration with Product Managers (PMs) and Business Development Managers (BDMs).
  • Regular and proactive communication with the distribution network, customers, engineering, sales, and customer service is essential.
  • Collaborate with RDSMs, sales, PMs, BDMs, and marketing to develop marketing materials for the Distribution Channel, including catalogues, literature, samples, and other collateral.
  • Collaborate with Amphenol divisions and BDMs on New Product Introduction (NPI) packages.
  • Assist PMs and RDSMs with monthly and annual order forecasting and reporting for Distribution Business.
  • Responsible for managing the budget and forecasting the overall distribution orders for Mil / Aero products.
  • Establish and manage the budget for Distribution marketing collateral and promotional budget.
  • Identify internal and external training requirements, including product training
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Business Development Managers, Product Specialists, Sales Engineers, Application Engineers and Customer Service team
  • Manage product sampling into the Distribution Channel in conjunction with BDM's.
  • Manage Distribution Registration Program.
  • Assist and direct customers, field sales, and customer service with technical support.
  • Prepare, monitor, and analyze POS data, distributor inventory, and other key data to identify trends and opportunities for business growth.
  • Assist PM’s and BDM's in updating and tracking progress of Sales Funnel opportunities related to Distribution.
  • Travel as needed for customer visits and presentations.
  • Provide analysis of marketing data, including trends, order projections, revenues, backlog, margin, and market segmentation at product, customer, and channel levels.
  • Document and optimize analysis and reporting processes
  • Provide direct support to PM's, BDM's, Accounting Manager and Director of Distribution / Sales
  • Prepare reports, including but not limited to :
  • regular updates on distribution order status and inventory levels
  • assistance with order and revenue forecast reports
  • creation of ad hoc reports as required by PMs, BDMs, and MMs.

What you bring to the table :

  • Related degree or diploma
  • 5+ years in a functional management position (Sales or Marketing)
  • Ability to engage and motivate a team to achieve new levels of growth
  • Experience working with distributors & the distribution market
  • Skilled in customer negotiations
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong analytical capability
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Confidently delivering compelling presentations to both internal and external audiences, including large groups
  • Must be legally able to travel to USA, Europe and Asia
