Position Type: Full-time (project-based)

Wage/Salary Range: Competitive salary, commensurate with experience

Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, with flexibility based on project and community engagement requirements

Hours Per Day: 8 hours per day

Job Overview:
GrizzlyTrek is currently seeking one Indigenous Community Liaison – Project Manager to join our Valued Clients team supporting major infrastructure projects in the Greater Toronto Area. This full-time, project-based position serves as a central coordination and leadership role, bridging Indigenous communities, Indigenous workers, and project partners. The focus of the role is hands-on project coordination, community engagement, and workforce retention to ensure Indigenous participation is meaningful, supported, and sustainable.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, training providers, and urban Indigenous groups in the GTA and surrounding region.

  • Lead community outreach, information sharing, and engagement activities in alignment with local protocols and expectations.

  • Identify opportunities for Indigenous-owned business participation and support introductions to project partners where appropriate.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for Indigenous workers placed through GrizzlyTrek, particularly during onboarding and the first 3–6 months of employment.

  • Provide hands-on support to workers related to site readiness, expectations, attendance, and day-to-day issue resolution.

  • Monitor workforce indicators such as attendance, performance trends, and retention risks, coordinating proactive solutions with site leadership.

  • Manage onboarding coordination including orientations, site access, documentation, and required training or certifications.

  • Maintain clear project tracking records including active roles, start dates, schedules, issues, resolutions, and retention outcomes.

  • Coordinate communication and candidate flow between GrizzlyTrek recruitment teams and project site teams.

  • Support engagement with union representatives where required and help manage pathways into unionized or end-client employment.

  • Oversee smooth transitions for workers moving from GrizzlyTrek employment into long-term project or union roles, following proper hiring and classification processes.

Qualifications:

  • Lived experience and established relationships within Indigenous communities and/or urban Indigenous organizations, preferably within the GTA.

  • Proven ability to manage projects, timelines, and multiple stakeholders simultaneously.

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.

  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, industrial projects, workforce development, employment programs, or community economic development.

  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-accountability project environments.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally within the Greater Toronto Area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Indigenous workforce participation, retention, or community benefit initiatives.

  • Familiarity with unionized construction or infrastructure environments.

  • Strong organizational, reporting, and tracking skills.

Work Environment:
This role involves a combination of office-based coordination, community engagement, and regular presence on active construction or infrastructure project sites within the GTA. The position requires local travel and close collaboration with project partners, workers, and community stakeholders.
