Scope
Looking for work-life balance and a great work culture! The City of Surrey has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrician with Civic Facilities. As the Tradesperson 2 - Electrician you will perform skilled electrical trades work in construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of City facilities and buildings, including high and low voltage installations.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and plans and assist in preparing estimates of costs, time, materials and equipment needed for electrical projects.
- Complete lay outs, assembling, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, maintaining, connecting or testing of electrical fixtures and wiring for systems of communication, alarm, light, heat, emergency and power systems inside buildings or other structures.
- Work with other trades; including working with heating, ventilating, air conditioning and plumbing systems.
- Work independently to organize and plan work projects.
- As an Electrician you will perform heavy manual inside and outdoor work in all types of weather conditions, that may be in high locations.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Candidates under consideration will have the following :
Completion of Grade 12 and an Electrical Trades Certification (TQ).Class B FSR (Field Safety Representative) certificate.Previous experience and training as a qualified trades Electrician.A valid and unrestricted drivers license with safe driving history.This position requires the successful candidate to obtain and maintain the relevant level of police security clearance.You will need to demonstrate :
Good knowledge of high and low voltage installations, pumps and controls, communication, alarm and heat systems.Good knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (Part 1) and related codes.Good knowledge of the standard practices, principles, methods, materials, codes, equipment used in electrical trade.Good working knowledge of applicable safety regulationsAbility to read and work from blueprints, sketches and other specifications.Ability to communicate effectively with staff and others.Other Information

Conditions of Employment
This position requires completion of a SPS Reliability Security Clearance (police clearance).
