Hays is proud to be partnering with a leading GTAmercial real estate managementpany which is seeking a Shift Building Operator to join their team in Hamilton, ON.
Your new roleThe Shift Building Operator will maintain mechanical equipment such as heat pumps, boilers, air handlers, cooling towers, fire systems in amercial office tower / retailplex in downtown Hamilton, ON.
You will work in continental shifts that rotate from Day to Night.
You will be responsible for the following duties :
- Provides day-to-day operations and maintenance on rotating 12 hour shifts, delivering a high level of facilities management services to the tenants and close the work orders within time frame given in response time policy.
- Monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains mechanical equipment such as heat pumps, boilers, air handlers and pumps that provide chilled water, hot water and air conditioning to the property. Ensure that all equipment pertaining to Plant Operations is functioning effectively.
- Ensure work orders are attended to and closed within a timely manner and in accordance with all regulations andmunicate the work status with the client groups via mobile application.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints
- Record all required readings and maintain accurate records regarding the operation of systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance and unscheduled maintenance and repairs of all building systems.
- Oversees 3rd party contractors for the safe andpliant operation, maintenance both corrective and preventive andputerized control systems.
- Conduct risk management inspections, remedial actions and reporting.
- General maintenance such as minor plumbing, light replacement, etc.
- Participate in educational programs and in-service trainings.
- Perform other related duties as required and as assigned by the supervisor or chief engineer.
What you'll need to succeed
MUST HAVE EITHER BES I and II, or a Stationary Engineers 4th Class Certificate, Refrigeration Technician, or other Licensed Trade Certification,Must have knowledge of HVAC equipment and its operation.Experience in the operation and maintenance of boilers and related equipment.Have a thorough knowledge of how HVAC equipment, valves, dampers and otherponents can be overridden as well as understand the automation interlocks that may be triggered by those overrides.Proven attendance record.Ability to perform the essential duties of the job, working at heights, ladder work.2-5 years hands on experience in general maintenance in amercial environment;Possesses strong technical / operational capabilities with past experience in monitoring building systems and equipment.What you'll get in returnIn return for this position, the successful candidate will be receive apensation package of $65,000 + 3 weeks Paid vacation to start + Benefits + RRSP.
