Job description

The Meteor Telecom group of companies is looking immediately hire Cable Technicians to join our expanding professional team. We have been in business for 50 years. We have remained busy throughout the COVID-19 lockdowns, and remain so afterwards. We work with large corporate customers coast to coast on such industry standard manufacturer systems as Mitel, NEC, Avaya, Nortel, Carehawk, Phybridge, Genesis, Xima, Bogen, and other leading global tech giants. Position Responsibilities :

Ability to install, terminate and test copper and fibre optic cables.
Able to troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cable issues
Able to identify cable routes throughout offices, industrial and commercial buildings.
Must possess a good understanding of the copper (UTP, Cat5e, Cat6) and fibre optic cabling field.
Must possess a good understanding of installing, fishing, dressing and cross-connecting cables
Must be able to jack, terminate and test on OTDR and fluke equipment.
Must have a valid Driver’s license, current police background check as well as current certificates including scissor lift, Genie boom, working at heights.
Ability to work in different environments, including high security, health care and warehouse locations.
Ability to work with others.
Install cables in a variety of locations, including through walls or floors.
Ability to operate cable testing devices.
Clean up after work.
Check safety and performance of installed cables.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Work may be in tight locations or high locations via use of a lift.
Safe work practices are always employed and must be followed.

Ability to read floor plans and decipher cabling requirements.
Must have an understanding building codes for cabling.

Requirements :

Be a customer satisfaction motivated individual.

Have a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License clear of serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act, have reliable transportation to get to our Brampton location, and customer sites throughout the GTA. Providing a clean drivers abstract will be a requirement.

Clean Police check will be required due to the nature of some locations.

Valid Lift certification, and working at heights.

Enjoy working towards achieving individual and team results.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Be available to work occasional weekends and evenings.

Those with telecom or cable experience will be prioritized for consideration

Starting salary will be based on experience.

Must fluent in speaking and writing English.

Some training will be provided, but experience is a requirement.

Must be in physically fit condition as this is a physical job.
