POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Finance and Administration oversees the company’s administrative activities and ensures the sound financial management of its operations and renewable energy projects.
The Director of Finance and Administration also plays a leading role in developing and implementing project development strategies in partnership with Nunavik communities.
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
Founded in 2017, Tarquti is a joint venture resulting from a partnership between Makivvik and Ilagiisaq (Fédération des coopératives du Nouveau-Québec) that has set itself the goal of replacing at least 70% of fossil energy in the communities with renewable energy.
Leading Nunavik’s energy transition, Tarquti is catalyzing the strengths of each community to build a better future for Nunavimmiut by respecting the environment and Inuit values.
In 2022, Tarquti signed a significant partnership with the Crown corporation, Hydro-Québec, to advance renewable energy projects in the region and foster value creation for future generations.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare budgets and ensure appropriate variance analysis and budget monitoring.
- Ensure cash flow, letters of credit, and relations with financial institutions and investor partners.
- Plan and secure financing for day-to-day operations, including grants and commercial loans, and ensure accountability under various financing agreements.
- Prepare financial packages for projects in collaboration with shareholders and external advisors.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Take out and maintain insurance, including for affiliated companies, and manage claims.
- Ensure the maintenance of company books and updates as required by authorities, with the support of external lawyers when needed.
- Perform various tax analyses with the support of external tax specialists.
- Maintain company registers and updates as required by authorities.
- Develop and implement tools, procedures, and systems to effectively manage the company and its governance.
- Provide recommendations and contribute to establishing best practices.
- Produce financial, management, and risk analysis reports.
- Support special projects and help improve the company’s administrative procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, management, or a related field (relevant work experience will be considered).
- Member in good standing of a professional order in finance or accounting (CFA, CPA, CMA, etc.).
- At least 5 years experience in finance, accounting, and management, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
- Experience and skills in administrative management and project financing.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to write and speak at least two languages commonly used in Nunavik : Inuktitut, English and French.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong work planning and management skills.
- High level of initiative and autonomy to identify and implement possible improvements to company operations.
- Responsible, diligent, and rigorous, with good organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work on several files simultaneously and manage tight deadlines.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- The Director of Finance and Administration will work from the Baie-d’Urfé office. Tarquti’s hybrid telecommuting policy applies to this position.
- This position requires occasional travel within and outside Nunavik.
- Full-time position.
