Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer
Location: 100% Remote, Canada
Experience: 7 to 10 Years
Rate: $60 to $70 CAD
Role Summary: NearSource is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join the Platform Services and Emerging Technologies group focused on Developer Enablement. This role drives AWS cloud standardization, deployment acceleration, and enterprise-grade automation initiatives that empower internal and partner engineering teams. The selected candidate will collaborate with global stakeholders to enhance platform adoption, strengthen CI/CD maturity, and ensure scalable, secure, and reliable cloud-native environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the standardization of AWS-based service deployment configurations to accelerate engineering delivery timelines
- Architect and optimize scalable, secure, and highly available AWS infrastructure
- Drive onboarding of development teams onto internal developer platforms and streamline enablement workflows
- Build, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions
- Implement and manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes
- Design secure and high-performance cloud network architectures across L4 and L7 layers
- Provide technical leadership and operational guidance to developers leveraging platform services
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, deployment, and networking issues across distributed systems
- Maintain detailed documentation, onboarding materials, and operational runbooks
- Contribute to cloud-native solution development initiatives using Java or Python
- Collaborate with platform engineering teams to continuously improve reliability, scalability, and automation maturity
- Stay aligned with emerging trends and best practices in AWS cloud engineering and DevOps automation
Must-Have Skills
- 7 to 10 years of experience designing, managing, and optimizing AWS cloud environments
- Proven expertise in architecting secure, scalable, and highly available AWS infrastructure
- Strong experience with CI/CD automation using Jenkins and GitHub Actions
- Hands-on experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes
- Experience developing cloud-native applications using Java or Python
- Strong understanding of AWS networking, IAM, security controls, and infrastructure best practices
- Experience designing and managing secure, high-performance cloud network architectures across L4 and L7
- Demonstrated ability to automate and optimize build, deployment, and monitoring workflows
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities in distributed production environments
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across global engineering teams
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Familiarity with Helm for Kubernetes deployments
- Experience with distributed tracing and observability platforms
- Knowledge of multi-region AWS infrastructure management
- Exposure to developer enablement or internal platform strategy initiatives
- Experience contributing to enterprise developer platform maturity
