Learn more at https : / / www.jnj.com / innovative-medicine The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is responsible for execution of the Medical Science Plan.

They are the point of contact for key opinion leaders (KOLs) in a given territory to support their medical, scientific, and research needs. Key responsibilities :

  • Discuss, disseminate and present relevant clinical and scientific data in a fair-balanced, unbiased manner, to KOLs and other HCPs, in group and one-on-one settings.
  • Build trusted, positive relationships with KOLs and HCPs, based on scientific credibility, clear engagement plans and metrics.
  • Capture and communicate relevant insights from KOLs to support and progress TA strategy.
  • Actively participate in the preparation and conduct of medical and scientific forums organized by Janssen (e.g.

Advisory Boards, Steering Committees, etc.).

  • Support investigator-initiated studies by receiving and assessing research requests, aligning investigator interests with Janssen’s research needs, and engaging investigators to ensure the successful execution and satisfactory completion of studies.
  • Support local and global clinical development programs; act as key contributor to site identification, patient enrollment, follow-up visits and communication with study investigators.
  • Identify and / or develop scientific communication materials (as appropriate) for use with HCPs through contacts and meetings, and provide congress support as needed.
  • Assist in responding to HCPs requesting compassionate drug for their patients.
  • Efficiently collaborate with, provide sound advice to, and support business partners (i.e.
  • Market Access, Medical Education, Sales and Marketing, etc.) as appropriate.

  • Provide input to influence the Evidence Generation plan, which complements the Integrated Lifecycle plans.
  • Maintain up-to-date scientific expertise in hematology through regular attendance at scientific and medical conferences, training sessions, personal reading, and preceptorships to translate data into an applicable knowledge and communication platform.
  • Analyze data – new and post-hoc – and remain abreast of scientific advancement in the assigned therapeutic area.
  • Assist in the interpretation of clinical trial outcomes, post-hoc analyses, and real-world data.
  • Support the Medical Science publication plan. Qualifications
  • Pharm.D., M.D., Ph.D.
  • or similar advanced degree is required

  • 3+ years of relevant experience, which can include a strong clinical and / or scientific background in a relevant therapy area
  • Previous experience as a Medical Science Liaison or experience in Western Canada Academic institutions is highly preferred
  • Previous experience in the pharmaceutical industry is highly preferred
  • Strong clinical and / or scientific background in Hematology is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in managing clinical / scientific programs with a high degree of autonomy, including successfully managing projects from study concept to publication
  • Familiarity with working in an environment guided by SOPs
  • Proven ability to learn quickly, assimilate and distill large amounts of information
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships
  • Proven proficiency to effectively communicate information to KOLs, as well as non-experts
  • Scientific knowledge, curiosity, familiarity and interest to stay on top of emerging data and scientific trends within the therapeutic area
  • Ability to travel 60-70% of the time, to cover the assigned territory within Canada as this is a customer facing position.  The anticipated base pay range for this position is $104,000 - 179,400 CAD.
