The Program Compliance Branch ensures the safety of foreign workers coming to Saskatchewan. The branch does this by investigating potential fraud, misrepresentation, and exploitation to ensure the integrity of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program and its respective legislation.
The Opportunity
The Program Compliance Branch is seeking to hire two Program Enforcement Officers . Reporting to the Senior Enforcement Officer, the successful candidate will :
- Investigate and manage field investigations as a peace officer in support of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) and the new Immigration Services Act (ISA).
- Collaborate with a team of investigators to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for newcomers to Saskatchewan.
- Travel to various business sites across Saskatchewan to conduct inspections and audits.
- Contribute to serious and complex investigations involving provincial and federal legislation (FWRISA, ISA, FOIP, IRPA, Criminal Code).
- Coordinate investigations and information-sharing agreements with partner agencies.
- Apply knowledge of investigative techniques, case law, judicial authorizations, and advanced police methods.
- Gather, collect, and organize evidence for the laying of charges and preparation of disclosure under appropriate legislation.
The Ideal Candidate
As our ideal candidate, you will have :
- Extensive knowledge in law enforcement with a history of handling complex investigations.
- Experience with managing complex disclosure processes.
- The ability to participate as part of a team to achieve organizational and investigational goals.
- The ability to organize and coordinate multiple tasks and resources effectively and ensure deadlines are met.
- The ability to analyze different perspectives and derive satisfaction from building strong relationships to pursue common goals and deliver results.
- Knowledge of Major Crime Management (MCM), investigative interviewing and / or immigration legislation such as the Immigration, Refugee, Protection Act (IRPA) is considered an asset.
- Experience in commercial crime, accounting, counterfeit document detection, identity theft and human trafficking issues, writing judicial authorizations is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in any additional language is considered an asset.
- A valid driver’s license as travel to various business sites across Saskatchewan is required.
Typically, the knowledge, skills and experience required to be successful in this position would have been obtained through :
- A diploma or degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Law, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Police Academy Program, or other related fields.
- Experience conducting investigations, adhering to the principles of procedural fairness, managing appeals or escalated complaints and judicial reviews.
- Criminal Record Check Requirement : The successful candidate shall be subject to a criminal Record Check.
