Position Summary
Reporting through the Cultural Services Section of the Recreation and Culture Division, the Graphic Designer creates various print and electronic assets to support division programs, services, and events.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees the design, layout and production of all recreation and culture guides and brochures
- Researches industry trends and best practices for layout
- Organizes advertisements to be included, and edits as necessary
- Updates information in the guide based on information gathered from Division staff
- Formats documents into their final form, distributes proofs as necessary, and sets up press production files
- Designs social media graphics, advertisements, symbols and other electronic or print material that are aligned with the division's marketing and promotions strategy
- Designs collateral materials (posters), signage, banners, etc. for programs, services, and events
- Collaborates with team members for content and design ideas
- Maintains an up-to-date electronic archive collection of photographs and videos
- Assists in maintaining various electronic and physical calendars and schedules
- Develops, produces and updates various internal and external forms, manuals, presentations and templates as needed
- Provides functional supervision to graphic artists and co-op students
Education and Experience
Diploma in Graphic Design, Desktop Publishing or related discipline4 years experience in a similar roleRequired Skills / Knowledge
