Your Key Responsibilities
The Team Lead plays a critical role in the Saskatchewan Process Team development, performance, planning, engagement, and utilization. The Team Lead will work closely with leadership in Saskatchewan and Manitoba and the Process Team. The primary role of the Team Lead is to support the overall health (e.g. team engagement, retention, project delivery, growth) of the Saskatchewan Process Team and make sure that the team is well-positioned for long-term success.
People Management :
Champion ideas and initiatives that promote a healthy work environment and a positive culture.
Show leadership in continuous improvement of team performance by providing coaching, mentoring and training to develop a high-performing project team.
Establish strong relationships with team members and provide regular recognition and feedback.
Proactively identify and resolve team issues and conflicts.
Demonstrate professionalism and proactiveness in handling and dealing with confidential and sensitive personnel issues.
Facilitate regular discipline meetings to track project deliverables, coordinate with their team on upcoming project needs and field any questions around resourcing or technical matters. It is expected that the Team Lead will interact regularly with staff and work closely with the technical team to provide information (standards, IP, technical references, sample projects, etc.) needed to complete assignments.

Business Development :
Lead strategic business development initiatives to expand the team’s portfolio, identifying emerging market needs, competitive positioning opportunities, and long‑term growth pathways.
Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships through regular engagement, technical discussions, and participation in industry events.
Oversee proposal development efforts by coordinating with technical teams, shaping win themes, developing pursuit strategies, and ensuring proposals meet technical, commercial, and branding standards.
Serve as a primary client-facing representative for business development meetings, interviews, presentations, and project scoping discussions, effectively communicating technical expertise and project value.
Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, and level‑of‑effort documents that align with client expectations, regulatory requirements, and internal financial targets.
Collaborate across multiple business lines to identify integrated project opportunities and strengthen cross‑disciplinary pursuits.
Conduct quality reviews of proposals, marketing materials, and client deliverables to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with company standards and strategic objectives.
Support key account planning by contributing market intelligence, client feedback, and technical insights to strengthen account strategies and improve win rates.
Represent the firm at industry events and conferences to build visibility, network with potential clients, and stay current on market trends and regulatory changes.
Mentor junior staff in business development practices by providing guidance on proposal writing, client engagement, and pursuit strategy development.
Project Execution :
The selected candidate should have ten (10) years of water / wastewater engineering or project management experience and will be involved in project execution.
Perform complex engineering design tasks on assigned water-related projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines. Routine technical tasks include : - Engineering design including pump sizing and selection, equipment sizing and selection, material selections, mass balances, chemical dosing, hydraulic loading, solids handling, etc.
Engineering drawings such as block flow diagrams (BFDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs)
Engineering reports including basis of design documents, technical memorandums, and conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design reports
Feasibility studies
Presentations to clients, regulatory agencies and / or project stakeholders
Quality reviews
Work under minimal supervision and with the Leadership Team to manage multiple water related projects, including the management of existing client relationships and bringing in new clients.
Lead design and construction projects in the region. Develop and manage the project scope, quality review process, budget, staffing, schedule and contractual requirements.
Collaborate with discipline specific PMs and technical leads to promote work sharing and the import and export of personnel as required to successfully deliver projects throughout the business.
It is expected that the Team Lead will work closely with specific engineering discipline leads to drive consistency in project delivery, resource planning, staff development and the adoption of Stantec IP, best practices and knowledge sharing.
Assign, review and evaluate work for technical accuracy and completeness; and advise on technical problems.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Professional Engineer Designation with APEGS, or eligibility for registration with APEGS.
Strong leadership, problem solving and decision-making skills in managing people.
Results-oriented leadership style focused in delivering on goals and objectives.
Experience leading water and wastewater process design teams in finalizing preliminary and detailed engineering design packages.
Strong communication skills including mentoring and coaching junior staff, participation in professional societies and / or authoring professional papers and presentations.
Strong design leadership and client relation building skills with proven capability to lead design teams and mentor staff.
Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
Ability to coordinate and collaborate with other engineering and technical disciplines including geotechnical, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, electrical and architecture.
Education and Experience
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institute. Related graduate degree would be an asset.
Experience : Minimum of 10 years related experience in project management, preferably for wastewater and water treatment infrastructure design projects.
Licensure : Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or ability to obtain license within 6 months.
Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.
Successful experience in leading teams within projects and proven leadership skills.
Experience in the consulting engineering environment and project management experience is an asset.
Pay Transparency : In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
