Overview

Athabasca University’s Learning Services Tutorial Department is seeking an Individualized Study Tutor for the following course : History (HIST) 201 : Europe - Prehistory to the 1700s.

Responsibilities

Provide academic assistance to students.
Mark assignments.
Assign and record final grades.
Maintain accurate student records and return students' work promptly and within the University’s required service standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of a Master’s degree required (PhD preferred) in History.

Teaching experience at a post‑secondary level is required.

Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies and online course delivery is preferred.

Experience with adult education and Moodle online course delivery is considered an asset.

Excellent communication, organizational, administration and online / computer skills.

Demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students' work promptly and within the University’s required service standards.

Must own or have access to a computer and internet capable of running required applications.

First consideration will be given to internal applicants according to Article 7 of the Board / CUPE Collective Agreement, followed by candidates who are able to work from Alberta and then those who are able to work from within Canada.

Non‑doctoral prepared employees : $243.25 prorated per block, per biweekly pay.

Doctoral prepared employees : $252.98 prorated per block, per biweekly pay.
