What You’ll Do :
As a Lead Electrical Estimator, you’ll be responsible for leading the preparation of accurate, competitive electrical cost estimates for industrial and commercial construction projects, while providing leadership to the electrical estimating team. You will be responsible for the overall preparation and development of complete proposals in response to client requests. You will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with the entire estimating and operating teams to effectively develop the best-in-class proposals. This role supports bid strategy development, mentorship, and close collaboration with operations and project management teams.
This is an office-based leadership role with occasional site visits as required.
Key responsibilities :
Lead and provide day-to-day guidance to the electrical estimating team, including workload coordination, technical support, proposal development, and mentoring to ensure high-quality, consistent estimatesLead, prepare, and review detailed electrical cost estimates for industrial construction projectsCoordinate full-scope estimating activities including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and indirect costsReview drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project scope, risks, and opportunitiesDevelop quantity take-offs and detailed costing sheets using estimating softwareObtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations; negotiate pricing as requiredDevelop and maintain standardized estimating systems for recurring or similar project typesProvide estimating support during bid clarification, tender submissions, and post-award transitionsSupport development of project budgets, change order pricing, and project close-out cost analysisLiaise professionally with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders regarding tender documentation and clarificationsMentor and provide technical guidance to other estimatorsParticipate in site visits as required to validate scope and assumptionsWork under pressure to meet bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and qualityYou’ll collaborate closely with the Estimating team and report directly to the Estimating and Proposal Lead helping drive innovation and excellence in Electrical Estimating team.
What We're Looking For :
Electrical Engineering Degree, Electrical Technologist diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experienceExtensive experience estimating electrical work in a heavy industrial construction environmentPrior lead or senior estimating experience is requiredStrong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, labour productivity, and construction methodologiesProficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Bid2Win or similar platforms)Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environmentProficient with Microsoft Office and computer-based estimating toolsPut Safety First, Always
