Household Assistant (Not a Nanny Role | Flexible, Well-Paid, High-Trust)

• Location : Halifax Regional Municipality
• Hours : Flexible, approximately 25–40 hours per week
• Pay : $20–25 / hour overtime, with increases tied to initiative and reliability

This is not a traditional nanny job .

We are a busy professional family looking for an energetic, proactive household assistant whose primary focus is keeping our home organized, stocked, and running smoothly. Childcare is occasional and backup only . The core of this role is household execution, organization, and support .

About the Role

You don’t need formal experience as a household assistant. What matters most is energy, organization, reliability, and initiative .

Primary Responsibilities (Household Execution)

Home Organization & Readiness

• Proactively organize and maintain :
• Kitchen drawers and cabinets
• Refrigerator, freezer, and pantry
• Children’s closets and storage areas
• Household storage spaces
• Create simple systems so the home stays organized long-term

Daily Household Tasks

• Laundry always done and put away
• Dishes always done and kitchen fully reset
• Refrigerator, freezer, and pantry stocked, clean, and organized
• Order groceries, toiletries, and household items without being asked
• Make returns and run errands as needed

You will be given a pre-authorized spending allowance so you can act on initiative without waiting for approval.

Coordination & Light Management

• Coordinate weekly groceries and food planning
• Coordinate with a chef weekly (as applicable)
• Coordinate bi-weekly deep cleans with professional house cleaners
• Track household needs and schedule services proactively

Pool & Hot Tub Care

• Test water and add chemicals to the pool and / or hot tub as required
• Flag any issues early
• No experience needed — we’ll show you what to do.)*

Childcare Support (Occasional / Backup Only)

This is not a nanny position , but comfort with children is important.

We have :

• An 8-year-old daughter
• A 13-month-old son

Our 13-month-old has regular childcare. Support involving either child is occasional and backup only , such as when plans fall through or during evenings, overnights, or travel.

Childcare support may include :

• Occasional evening childcare (about once per month)
• Rare overnight stays (about once per quarter, planned in advance)
• Backup coverage when regular childcare falls through
• Traveling with the family approximately twice per year to help on vacation

You’ll be a positive role model for our daughter and comfortable providing limited support around our son when needed.

Schedule & Flexibility

• Mostly weekday hours
• Occasional evenings or weekends as needed (not routine)
• Some weeks are lighter, some busier — flexibility matters
• You’ll work independently most of the time
