Job description

Academic Gastrointestinal or Gynecologic Pathologist

Join to apply for the Academic Gastrointestinal or Gynecologic Pathologist role at EORLA - Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association.

Position Overview

Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Division of Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology

Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA), The Ottawa Hospital and the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Applications are invited for a full-time academic surgical pathologist position, available immediately. We are seeking candidates with fellowship training and/or significant practice experience in gastrointestinal or gynecologic pathology. Additional expertise in another subspecialty is strongly encouraged.

The successful candidate will join a collegial team of 40 pathologists representing every subspecialty in anatomical pathology. Our division operates a fully subspecialized model, with an annual surgical pathology volume exceeding 120,000 cases and a high proportion of gastrointestinal, gynecologic, and breast specimens. Each pathologist participates in one or two additional subspecialties beyond their primary focus, fostering both depth and breadth of expertise.

Compensation and benefits are aligned with the Uniform Minimum Level of Compensation (UMLC) for Ontario pathologists, with an annual remuneration of approximately CAD $404,000. Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted. The position remains open until filled.

Basic Requirements

Applicants must hold an MD degree, be eligible for licensure in Ontario, and possess Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification (or equivalent board certification) in Anatomical Pathology. Successful candidates will be appointed to the University of Ottawa with opportunities for teaching, collaborative research, and academic advancement. Rank will be based on experience in accordance with university guidelines.

As a pre-condition of employment, all new EORLA employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.

Mandatory Vaccination Policy

Per EORLA's COVID-19 Vaccination Policy, if you are successful in the selection process, an offer of employment is conditional upon presentation of government issued documentation confirming that you have been fully vaccinated with a vaccine that has been approved in Canada. Any individual who cannot be vaccinated on medical grounds or other grounds recognized by the Human Rights Code can request an accommodation.

Please note that with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s position has been that a singular belief or personal preference against vaccinations and/or masks is not protected on the ground of creed under the Code.
