CAD (computer-aided design) technologist

Responsibilities

Prepare engineering designs and drawings

Read blueprints to determine work requirements

Develop and prepare design sketches

Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates

Write technical reports and specifications

Complete documentation packages and drawing sets

Examine drawings for conformity and errors

Consult with client, engineers or production specialists to establish product requirements

Qualifications

AutoCAD Certification

Free‑hand drafting, shop drawings, detailing drafting

3D Modeling, drafting specialization

AutoCAD, Autodesk REVIT, CAD software proficiency
