IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY
Interim Director of Airside and Groundside Operations
Reports To : Vice President, Operations and Infrastructure
Duration : 12 Months
Location : Laval, Quebec
Our client, a prominent Canadian corporation, is in search of a seasoned executive to oversee service delivery. This executive will be tasked with collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the provision of consistent and integrated services, as well as managing effective communication across both airside and groundside operations. The role includes ensuring the airfield’s operational status for general aviation and commercial activities, compliance with certification standards, adherence to environmental guidelines, and the long-term viability of the airfield through strategic facility planning and coordination with governing bodies such as Transport Canada, NAV Canada, and municipal and regional authorities.
Key Accountabilities :
- Create and lead the business strategy for Airside and Groundside Operations, ensuring smooth coordination with other Authority departments to effectively meet and surpass the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure the Airfield Authority operates safely and efficiently, fully adhering to all applicable regulations, policies, and programs.
- Ensure the Airfield meets certification standards and maintain strong communication with Transport Canada regarding the Airfield Certificate.
- Ensure the Airfield Operations Manual is up to date and properly maintained.
- Maintain safe facilities for air carriers and general aviation activities through the implementation of a robust airfield maintenance program and forward-thinking facility planning.
- Establish measures to ensure the Authority complies with relevant environmental legislation.
- Oversee Airfield Zoning Regulations and other land development tools to avoid conflicts between on-airfield and off-airfield developments, as well as current and future airfield operations.
- Foster ongoing relationships with air carriers, NAV CANADA, tenants, local municipalities, and regulatory agencies to ensure the smooth and safe movement of passengers through the airport.
- Oversee the management of the Vehicle Fleet and the Fleet Replacement Programs.
- Oversee and develop staff, ensuring they meet and exceed their goals and performance indicators.
- Engage in industry trade associations like the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to stay updated on industry developments.
- Create and sustain effective training programs for all staff to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
- Ensure all Airside and Groundside maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with operational requirements, regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Create and execute winter and summer maintenance plans to ensure sufficient staffing and compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Prepare and oversee the management of the annual operating budget.
- Draft specifications and manage contracts for all outsourced services.
- Create Standard Operating Procedures for the department and ensure employees receive appropriate training.
- Ensure all employees are informed about and adhere to safe work practices.
Competencies and Requirements :
A university degree in an aviation-related field, or a combination of post-secondary education and substantial relevant experience.Possession of a valid driver’s license (Class G or equivalent).Provision of a driver’s abstract issued within the last month.Holding an Airport Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP).Over 8 years of experience in airfield operations.Expertise in airfield maintenance, particularly field maintenance.Knowledge of managing and maintaining large vehicle fleets including maintenanceProficiency in airfield certification standards and recommended practices.Understanding of environmental legislation as it pertains to airports.Familiarity with airfield business planning processes.Proficiency in French communication and writing skills is an asset.PLEASE SEND YOUR CV (AS A WORD DOC) TO : [email protected] (Subject : Job Title)
