Salary : Core range $56,412.51$66,096.25. The target hiring salary for this position is minimum (Step 1) up to 45% of the pay band. Considerations for new hire step placements include experiential knowledge and / or language and cultural expertise.
Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) is a unique Indigenous Institute, recognized by community, government, and institutions of higher learning, as a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Knowledge. JOB PURPOSE
The Employment Counsellor is responsible for providing comprehensive employment counselling, career guidance, and work-readiness support to Indigenous learners and community clients accessing the Integrated Employment Service (IES) at Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP). The role supports the strategic objectives of the IES in aligning employment services with academic programs, workforce readiness, and community development initiatives.
The Employment Counsellor operates under the guidance of the Unit Manager, Centre for Teaching & Learning, and is expected to deliver culturally responsive, evidence-based, and client-focused services that reflect Hodinsh : nih / Rotinonhson : ni values of Ganigohi : yo / Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).

EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE
Bachelors degree or diploma in Career Development, Human Resources, Social Work, or a related field; Masters degree considered an asset.
Minimum 2 years experience in career counselling, employment services, or workforce development, preferably in Indigenous or post-secondary settings.
Experience working with adult learners, diverse populations, and in culturally sensitive contexts.
Knowledge of labour market trends, employment legislation, and community resources.
EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / CULTURE AND LANGUAGE EXPERTISE
Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, communities, and educational contexts.
Excellent interpersonal, counselling, and communication skills.
Ability to assess client needs, develop actionable plans, and support client goal achievement.
Proficiency with case management systems, office software, and virtual delivery platforms.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet program targets.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Commitment to continuous learning, professional growth, and culturally responsive practices.
