Job description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Track and schedule preventive maintenance for the large Heavy Equipment fleet. Use GPS systems to monitor the PM maintenance schedule and coordinate the scheduling of lube trucks with in-house and external dealers.
  • Provide training and education to team members on safety protocols and ensure they are registered for appropriate training. Monitor and coordinate training and certification expiration dates with the Heavy Equipment Shop Manager and HR Training & Development.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and tailgate talks, monitor the use of safety equipment, and ensure compliance with safety procedures. Report injuries, incidents, and near-misses, support investigations, and take immediate action to address safety concerns and hazards.
  • Assist with daily administrative tasks for the Heavy Equipment repair and maintenance department. Enter work order data provided by technicians, process purchase orders (P.O.s), and handle various administrative duties as needed.
  • Ensure personal compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and all applicable Cavanagh Group of Companies policies. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety, training, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks for the Heavy Equipment Department

Requirements :

  • Previous experience coordinating activities, maintenance schedules, or administrative tasks in a heavy equipment shop environment would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in performing job responsibilities, attending meetings, and addressing issues promptly.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Excel for tracking, scheduling, and reporting on preventive maintenance schedules, training records, and other administrative tasks.
  • Familiarity with VISTA Viewpoint software is preferred, as it would aid in managing work orders, purchase orders, and other administrative functions within the Heavy Equipment Department.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, such as coordinating maintenance schedules, monitoring safety protocols, and handling administrative duties efficiently.
  • Meticulous in ensuring accuracy in data entry, scheduling, and compliance with safety and maintenance procedures.
