ROLE : MAINFRAME TESTING
TORONTO - FULLTIME - HYBRID
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans / cases : Design comprehensive test strategies and detailed test cases based on business requirements and functional specifications.
- Perform various testing types : Conduct functional, integration, regression, system, and sometimes performance and security testing for both batch and online applications.
- Validate data integrity : Perform DB data validation by writing and executing complex SQL queries, and verify data in various file systems like VSAM and flat files.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues : Analyze job logs, spool files, and Abend reports for batch processing, and collaborate with developers and business analysts to identify and resolve defects.
- Manage defects and documentation : Log, track, and manage defects using tools like JIRA, Client ALM, or QC, and maintain detailed documentation of test results and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams : Work closely with onsite leads, developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders, often in an Agile / Scrum environment.
- Prepare test data : Utilize JCL utilities and tools like File-Aid to create and manage necessary test data.
- Automate testing (optional but preferred) : Develop and maintain automated test scripts using relevant tools (, Tosca, Selenium for front-end integration) to build robust regression suites
Required Technical Skills
Mainframe Technologies : Proficiency in core technologies including COBOL, JCL, DB, CICS, and VSAM.Tools : Experience with test management tools (JIRA, Client ALM / QC), debugging tools (Expeditor), and file management tools (File-Aid).Methodologies : Strong knowledge of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and Agile methodologies.Communication : Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with various stakeholders, including onsite teams and clients.Domain Knowledge : Relevant industry experience (, banking or finance) is often highly valued
