Overview
As part of our continued growth, our Winnipeg office has an opportunity for an Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record in delivering conceptual, preliminary and detailed design phases, construction services in utility, mining, industrial and / or municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities. They will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment to deliver advanced water and wastewater treatment facilities, transmission and distribution, renewables and large mining projects to our clients based in Western Canada and the USA.
Responsibilities
- Design of electrical power and distribution systems, lighting, grounding and control systems
- Design and supervise production of drawings and specifications for complete electrical and automation systems including single line diagram, AC / DC schematics, field and panel control devices and SCADA for various processes including water / wastewater treatment, utility and mining applications
- Design experience with MV / HV substation protection and control systems philosophy, switchyard physical design including MV / HV equipment and structure, cable trench and grounding layout
- Strictly adhere to AECOM's project and QA / QC standards, including capability of learning and adopting clients' standard and requirements upon request
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of technical aspects on project documentation produced in accordance with AECOM QA / QC procedures and the clients' standards
- Ensure that project deliverables are produced in a timely manner to expected quality and allocated budget
- Work with Construction Contract Administrator to review Shop Drawings, prepare and issue responses to contractor queries
- Perform site inspections and issue inspection reports, issue Field Instructions and Field Orders, and prepare deficiency reports
- Provide technical support through all phases of the project
- Understands the importance of meeting schedules, deadlines and good time management
Qualifications
Minimum requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / I&C Engineering + 4 years of related experience in engineering design in a multi-disciplinary electrical, instrumentation & control environment for production, including field services during construction phase of projectsRegistered as a P.Eng in Manitoba or ability to become registered within 6-12 monthsPreferred Qualifications :
Ideally 5+ years of experience in engineering design and field experience in a multi-disciplinary electrical, instrumentation & control environment for production, including field services during construction phase of projectsProven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, AC / DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, control network diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams; developing equipment load schedules, cable & tray calculations, instrumentation indices & standard detailsExperience in MV / HV substation design including physical switchyard, protection and control systems and medium voltage switchgear will be an assetExperience in protection relay selection and setting will be an assetExperience with technical software such as SKM and ETAP will be an assetFamiliar with the Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), Manitoba Building Code and Canadian Standard Association (CSA) standardsDesign experience with low voltage (600V) MCCs and communication systems will be an assetMust be able to interpret engineers' notes & specifications and convert into detailed design drawings accurately in timely manner with minimum amount of supervisionExperience in the design of PLC based systems an assetStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environmentCritical thinking to identify issues, present solutions and follow through to ensure completionCapable of collaborating and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholdersAdditional Information
Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is CAD 73,000 - CAD 100,000.
