Objective / Purpose of the Job

The primary purpose of this role is to define the best solutions to support RFQ and Pricing Strategy of the Region. This includes the following main responsibilities in alignment with Trade-lane Management, Market and Capacity Updates, Charter Network Pricing and working with go to market team to push the solutions to clients and countries.

Business Development Ocean freight

  • Analysing customer and vertical market potential in close cooperation with sales, with a focus on new business for ocean freight
  • Attending Weekly and Monthly Business Development calls with partners to support ocean freight business development
  • Preparing Monthly Market Updates for Sales and drive monthly market update calls.
  • Represent in RFQ Meetings for specific clients

Pricing and Tender Management

  • Develop and support a clear and compelling growth strategy for the maritime product
  • Develop and maintain a solid business collaboration with the Business Process Management Department (BPM&A) and other “Tool owner” within the maritime industry including trade and core carrier providers
  • Drive and execute the defined local, regional and global strategy for the maritime product and convert global and regional governance into a local action plan
  • Identify focus areas within the maritime Product with potential and / or additional needs of “digitizing” business processes and the development of new solutions to ensure a higher efficiency of doing business
  • Steer the organization through KPIs / Dashboards, process optimization and “eSolutions” / Interfaces
  • Identify further market trends supporting Global and Regional objectives
  • Working Closely with Tender Management team to make sure that best pricing and Achievable rates are in the Tenders
  • Validating transport data, costs & production concepts, and calculating local and international tenders.
  • Representing the Pricing & Tender Management Team at customer meetings, negotiations and internal meetings, representing the country
  • Carrier Management and Freight Planning

  • Together with Carrier and Network Management, Negotiate the rates find solutions for large bids, fulfil the demand from the market
  • Measuring the Carrier's Performance and arranging regular meetings to review the performance
  • Measuring Net Achieved Rates and Performance with the market
  • Reviewing P&L on account and Carrier Level, make decision to allocate the space accordingly
  • Working with Operation and Freight Planning team to make sure the best consolidation and net achieved rates achieved with aligning customer requirements

    General Management

  • Keep abreast of industry changes, market situation and customer requirements; update all respective working colleagues within the geographies on the changes of market condition
  • Participate in joint customer visits
  • To review the Pipeline monthly provided by Sales and drive the potential accounts, join the potential sales calls
  • Requirements :

  • Ability to legally work 40+ hours per week in Canada with excellent attendance
  • College or University (Logistics, Business or Finance Diploma) equivalency
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of related work experience, including specific Ocean Freight B2B growth experience
  • Successful leader that has developed team and managed P&L
  • Fluent in English, further languages would be advantageous
  • CargoWise Knowledge an asset
  • Experienced in working with MS Office, especially Excel
  • Excellent customer service, presentation skill, communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • CPR First Aid an asset
