Based at our Lethbridge plant location, the Plant Foreman is responsible for the operation of the entire production facility. This is a diverse position with a variety of responsibilities including employee supervision, plant maintenance, training and safety. The foreman must ensure a clean, safe and orderly production environment. This is a working (hands on) position that requires overtime during peak seasons and applicable Overtime pay applies. This role works very closely with the Production Manager.

A ticketed tradesperson is an asset but not required. We are looking for some with a strong mechanical aptitude.

  • THE IDEAL CANDIDATE :

  • Minimum high school diploma preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 to 5 years in a leadership capacity at an industrial plant environment or similar business
  • Experienced in operating a variety of mobile equipment, including forklifts and skid steers
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work well with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures
  • Ticketed trade considered an asset, mechanically inclined is preferred
  • Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push and pull equipment up to 60 lbs without assistance and occasionally greater with assistance
  • Perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing and reaching overhead above the shoulders daily
  • Adaptable to adverse conditions including confined space, heights, cold weather, odours and animal by-products
  • RESPONSIBILITIES : Supervisory

  • Direct supervision of plant employees (20-25 people)
  • Ensure plant operates in a proper manner by scheduling and directing workforce to produc optimum production yields with acceptable product quality
  • Monitors day-to-day performance of plant employees and provides feedback to management
  • Assist production staff with day-to-day operations including position overage of Labourers
  • Identifies mechanical problems in the plant and troubleshoots
  • Orders and receives delivery of parts to store room
  • Coordinate the receipt of raw materials from customer deliveries
  • Liaise with CFIA and HACCP
  • Maintenance

  • Perform minor building and equipment repairs throughout the facility
  • Coordinate larger repairs with outside contractors
  • Implement preventative maintenance measures
  • Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocol
  • Safety & Training

  • As Primary First-Aid Attendant, administering first-aid treatment as required for all plant employees. The company will provide First Aid Training.
  • Actively participates in safety committee meetings and toolbox feedback meetings
  • Oversee the training of employees to ensure competence in carrying out Standard Operating Procedures
  • Perform orientation and safety training for outside visitors or contractors
