Job description

Position Summary

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is seeking a confident and personable professional to join our Culture & Recreation Team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Culture & Heritage, the Coordinator, Fort Heritage Precinct Programs is responsible for the development, implementation, staffing, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of all Fort Heritage Precinct programs and events.

Responsibilities

include, but are not limited to :

  • Supervise, train, mentor and schedule programming staff and volunteers.
  • Develop, implement, coordinate, deliver and evaluate educational and public programs within service levels approved by City Council.
  • Oversee staff delivery of daily frontline services at the Fort Heritage Precinct, including tour delivery, visitor information, and gift shop sales.
  • Develop, implement, coordinate, deliver and evaluate the delivery of event programming at the Fort Heritage Precinct, utilizing the interpretive themes of the site.
  • Responsible for revenue and expenses related to programs and events.
  • Collaborate with Fort Heritage Precinct staff.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a 2 year Diploma in education, history, heritage interpretation, museum studies or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a heritage related position and progressive experience in supervision is required. Experience in the areas of program development, delivery and advertising is essential. The incumbent will have a strong understanding of the Alberta Museums Association standard practices along with excellent report writing and oral presentation capabilities. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and organizational skills to promote successful customer relations.
