Job description

Property Financial Analyst  for provincial government agency client, downtown Toronto.

Marberg Job Number : 2469.

Job Type : ​Temporary​.

Initial Term : January 27 2025 to July 27 2025.

Compensation : $51.56 per hour.

Regular Work Hours : FULL TIME WORK HOURS – 7.25 work hours per day, not including .75 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday-Friday (36.25 work hours per week).

Work Location : Hybrid – combination of 2 days remote-based and 3 days onsite at client’s downtown Toronto location. Onsite work expectations subject always to client business requirements, and may change according to client business needs.

Responsibilities Summary :

To provide financial analysis and KPI reporting to capital projects department of large provincial government agency, supporting property and additional capital acquisitions initiatives.

  • Conduct department financial and contract analysis. Model and and present analytical findings to senior management and Board to support departmental decision making regarding acquisitions.
  • Identify, assess and recommend solutions for financial issues impacting property acquisition reporting, and provide variance cost analyses and other ad hoc reports.
  • Support financial process automation, including the integration of new financial systems and applications.
  • Review and summarize information from contracts, legal documents, the Expropriations Act and other relevant legislation to financial acquisitions work.
  • Provide project management support to month-end and year-end phases of property acquisition projects.
  • Lead the analysis and delivery of financial reporting on departmental activities using modelling tools to ensure information is meaningfully shared, and usable my management to identify process improvements.
  • Demonstrate adherence to legislative and organizational policies and best practices per financial regulations and property acquisitions. Ensure transparency and clear, effective communication.
  • Additional financial analysis and financial reporting responsibilities as required.

Qualifications :

Education : Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Real Estate Administration, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or related discipline.

Preferred Work Experience :  Approximately 5+ years in a financial analytics role required.

Sector Experience : Experience from a property or real estate capital management environment a strong asset.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements :

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel (may be tested) and Power BI is required, as is working professional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in accounting, financial analysis, and reporting principles and practices in a large, complex, project-based environment.
  • Background in month end project forecasting and capital budgeting as demonstrated in past roles.
  • Strong English communication skills, including advanced level business writing skills, and verbal presentation skills suitable for a diverse range of audiences including senior leadership.
  • Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes :

  • Excellent technical skills in all areas of real estate financial analysis, strong knowledge of analysis, modelling and reporting tools.
  • Strong presentation skills and professional communication, with the ability to work well with employees at all seniority levels and a history of representing departmental needs with senior leadership staff.
  • Exceptional self-motivation, attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to autonomously work on high level projects with strong accuracy and time sensitivity.
  • Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organizational policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently, collaboratively and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
  • Ability to work ​both remotely and onsite as required​, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
  • Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities prior to assignment start.
  • Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
