The expected pay range for this position is :

Assistant Professor : $100,000 - $130,000 / year

Associate Professor : $130,000-$160,000 / year

Professor : $160,000 - $190,000 / year

The Faculty of Forestry at the Vancouver campus of the University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for up to two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor (tenure-track) in Indigenous Land Stewardship .

The successful applicant(s) will be expected to play a key role in undergraduate and graduate teaching within the broad area of Indigenous Land Stewardship.

UBC’s Vancouver campus is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, including the territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Stó : lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ / Selilwitulh (Tsleil- Waututh) Nations.

Required qualifications :

Candidates must have a PhD in Ecology, Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Governance, Economics, Business Management, or a related area.

Consideration will be given to promising applicants who are very near completion of a doctorate degree by the time of appointment.

Applicants for this position should have a demonstrated track record of (or possess clear potential to excel in) research and teaching within the topic areas described above within an Indigenous context.

Strong applicants are likely to be comfortable working with and learning from non-academics and other specialists in their field.

The successful candidate must develop an independent, internationally recognized research program, and seek funding, both as an individual and in collaboration with others, drawing on government, industrial and other sources.

The position will involve research, teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, the supervision of graduate students at the Masters and Doctoral levels and providing service to the University and the broader community.

The successful candidate will embrace productive relationships across cultural differences and develop an equitable, diverse and inclusive learning and research approach that promotes a respectful environment for all students, staff and faculty.

Appointment will be made in the Department of Forest Resources Management, Forest and Conservation Sciences or Wood Science, depending on the expertise of the individual.

Salary is dependent on rank, is competitive, negotiable, and commensurate with experience, and is subject to final budgetary approval.
