Position Overview :
Responsible for the safe transportation, local and long-haul bulk fluid transfers of liquid non-hazardous waste. This is a regular full-time position. Travel is required and overnight travel can be expected. May be assigned yard or plant duties from time to time during down time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to) :
Operate and navigate company-owned or leased vehicles in excess of four tons including tractor / trailer / tanker, forklift and mechanized equipment;Operate pumps and connect hoses for loading / offloading tankers into and out of storage tanks.Document, record, and track all required log sheets IAW, FMCSA, DOT and Inland Technologies International Ltd. requirements;Knowledge of local major and minor roadways and the ability to effectively use maps and GPS navigational applications for efficient travel routing;Service truck with fuel, oil and other fluids and perform preventative maintenance to tractor-trailer;Required Skills and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent;Tractor Trailer experience is a mustExperience hauling liquid tankers considered an assetClean driver's abstractMinimum two years’ commercial driving experience;Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance;Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;Ability to read and interpret written communication and reports;Sitting while driving for long periods of time in possible inclement weather;Ability to use hands and arms to install, position, move and manipulate items;Ability to climb, balance, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl and handle materials;Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;A valid driver’s license is required for this position.Certification / Licenses :
Valid driver's license;Must hold required commercial driver's license appropriate for weight of vehicle to be operated;Able to pass background and drug testing as required by federal and / or state department of transportation regulation;Commercial Class A driver's license with Tanker EndorsementPosition Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with an average 40 hours per week.Travel :
Driver will be based out of our Halifax Airport locationFrequent travel is an essential duty of this position;Includes sitting while driving for long periods of time.Physical Demands :
Must be able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms;Required to work outdoors in hot and cold temperatures loading and offloading tankerAble to speak and hear efficiently.Security Clearance :
Ability to obtain and maintain all security clearances required by Transport CanadaAbility to pass pre-employment background screenings.
