Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Senior Administrative Secretary to join the George Pearson Long Term Care team at George Pearson Centre in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Senior Administrative Secretary with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will :

  • Perform administrative and clerical functions to support the Manager and other team members.
  • Schedule, arrange and attend meetings to take minutes.
  • Type various technical and non-technical documents, communications and reports using advanced word-processing, spreadsheet and database skills.
  • Compile statistical information as needed.
  • Prepare and implement administrative protocols for methods of operation.
  • Assist with the recruitment and orientation of new staff members.
  • Liaise with the Staffing Resource Centre (SRC) to call in staff to fill vacancies resulting from vacations and various leaves of absence in accordance with applicable collective agreements.
  • Receive and process vacation and other requests from staff and responds to written and verbal enquiries from staff regarding vacation accumulations and related items.
  • Arrange for the ordering of departmental supplies and equipment as required.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12, graduation from a recognized secretarial program, including a recognized course in medical transcription and three (3) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to type 60 .
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

    The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

    As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
