Duties & Responsibilities
Performing basic fitness appointments including : standard fitness assessments (bike and treadmill based), skinfold tests, strength & flexibility tests, and equipment orientations
Set days and hours for these to be scheduledSet office hours
Interviews – sit in, help decide hiring, 2nd GX demo interviewsLook at all areas : Check GX studios, make sure closets are organized, floors in studios are swept, any equipment brought into studio from functional area etc. is put away, check in with FSA (weights re racked, weight floor / cardio deck / circuit deck looks good, machines are lined up, check CPR skills sheets are stocked and fill if needed, check fitness desk equipment is in good condition, throw away worn items and make a list of equipment to order, organize weight trees (even out weight plates – have FSA help if needed))Fitness Services
Fitness services will be scheduled during office hours as much as possible (one offs will happen)In Fusion calendar there will be blocked off times that match the office hours of the PM, FSA’s / PM will schedule the fitness services in those time slots, so we have record of when appt. is, after the appt. feedback survey will be sent in FusionKeeping detailed records of fitness assessment participants through informed consents, BSDI and scheduling software (schedule these in Fusion calendar)Informed consent forms are filled out in Connect 2 before the assessments, all medical forms complete in BSDI for future reference and record keeping.Assist in the marketing and creative development of Fitness Programs to increase participation and retention.
Assist with developing or improving existing fitness programs, input ideas and opinions from a student perspectiveAssist with hiring, training, and evaluating Fitness Program staff.
Behavior logs included (sit in on write ups), attend GX / PT / CPR classes and sessions to observe staff performanceAssist in the planning and leading of area‑specific meetings, continuing education trainings, and updates to all staff; coordinating makeup meeting sessions as necessary
FSA Monthly meetings help plan information, updates and an employee development training or continuing education, assist with all staff training to all areasAssist in the creation of Fitness Program schedules by ensuring staffing is in line with budgeted hours.
Check teams for any unfilled shifts, unpicked up shifts, help find coverage, at times fill in at fitness deskAssist with GX scheduling, PT scheduling, CPR as neededAct as peer supervisor and a resource for all 4 areas, be go to person when fitness coordinator is goneAssist in the inventory of supplies and equipment. (first aid kits – fitness desk)Utilize appropriate technology to manage the Fitness programs.Serve as an active member of the Program Manager team and attend regularly schedule meetings.Meet with supervisor regularly
Be a peer authoritative figure – be a resource but also be able to tell staff to not be on their phone, follow policies, stay busy etc.Track GX participant numbers – send out email reminders of upcoming class registrations
Track GX class participation numbersSend reminder emails to participants registered for GX classes and add how to cancel to keep openings available for smaller capacity classes (EX. Pilates)Tracking personal training sessions- check for consistency with sessions being taken away
Excel spreadsheet tracks who is training which clientsSmaller programs – 1-2 / semester – comprehensive fitness assessment promos, week long programsOther duties as assigned
Helping at welcome weekend, welly awards, de stress fest, safety audits, etc.Qualifications
Hold or be pursuing a major or minor in exercise science, recreation, nutrition or health-related field OR have experience in Group Exercise or Personal Training and / or at least one certification but pursuing a different primary career.General working knowledge of all exercise equipment and ability to explain proper use to participants.Certification in CPR / First Aid / AED, or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire. (Training provided by the Wellness Center at no cost for employees)Ability to lift at least 50 pounds of weight.Ability to work various hours Monday–SundaySuccessful completion of a Criminal History Background CheckPreferred Qualifications
Have one of the following national recognized NCCA Accredited certifications : NSCA (CPT or CSCS), ACE (CPT, clinical exercise specialist, lifestyle and weight management consultant), or ACSM (HFI, CPT, or Exercise Specialist), NASM (CPT), NCSF (CPT), and NETA (CPT).Employment & EEO Statement
