As the Dangerous Goods and Regulatory Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible for the interpretation, implementation, and ongoing compliance with Federal Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) legislation, as well as broader regulatory requirements including Hours of Service (HOS), carrier safety standards, and other applicable transportation-related regulations. Led by the Manager, Transportation – Outbound & Maintenance, this role will best suit a detail-oriented and proactive professional who brings expert knowledge of transportation safety legislation, and is confident supporting compliance through training, auditing, investigation and continuous improvement.

- Ensure timely updates and accurate maintenance of the dangerous goods database for dealers, distribution, and transportation.
- Review vendor TDG procedures, verify packaging and labeling compliance, and follow up on discrepancies to meet regulatory standards.
- Maintain training records, monitor certification status, and communicate gaps for distribution and transportation staff.
- Assist dealers with documentation, labeling, and emergency response planning for dangerous goods, including government reporting.
- Stay current with regulatory changes and conduct inspections and audits to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Lead spill / incident investigations, collaborate with stakeholders, and support load securement and shipment safety.
- Maintain the CANUTEC agreement and Transport Canada client ID database, ensuring legal and operational adherence.
- Diploma in Business, Logistics, Health and Safety, or Sustainability, alongside 3+ years of working experience within the field.
- Expert level knowledge of all Federal and Provincial legislation transportation and safety related matters (Transportation of Dangerous Goods, International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, 49 CFR, Consumer Chemicals Container Regulations (CCCR), Hazardous Products Act, WHMIS).
- Strong communication skills both oral and written.
- Proven ability to make quick informed decisions and work under pressure.
- Ability to facilitate effective training sessions.
- Good working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet, Outlook & Oracle.
- Detail oriented with a focus on ensuring timely and accurate maintenance of various databases and record keeping systems.
- Able to work well independently as well as part of a team.
- The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
