Position Summary

The Financial Reporting Analyst is a key strategic partner to the Director of Finance, owning full‑cycle corporate accounting, and taking a lead role in supporting management reporting and budgeting for the organization. This role is ideal for a CPA or experienced financial analyst who is a critical thinker and problem solver, eager to work with complex financial data, build models and dashboards, and turn numbers into clear, actionable insights for leadership and the Board.

You will lead month‑ and quarter‑end close, design and continuously improve financial and management reporting, and steward the organization’s budgeting and forecasting processes. As the primary owner of the accounting and reporting tools, you will maintain the chart of accounts and reporting structures, leverage technology and automation, and guide the transition from ASNPO to GRE reporting with strong technical judgment and robust controls.

Working closely with the Corporate Reporting Advisor, Operations Coordinator, and program leaders, you will champion internal controls and process improvements, support audits and assurance activities, and help embed data‑driven decision‑making that aligns with CHCPBC’s public‑sector mandate.

Duties & Responsibilities

Lead full‑cycle corporate accounting and month‑end / quarter‑end close, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and key balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely financial results.Own the design, preparation, and continuous improvement of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and management reporting packages (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and KPIs), providing clear insights, narratives, and recommendations to the Director of Finance.Support the organization’s budgeting and planning process, including leading development of templates and timelines, coordinating input from departments, consolidating budgets and forecasts, and preparing budget / forecast presentations and analysis.Act as primary owner of the accounting / ERP and reporting / BI tools, including structure and configuration of the chart of accounts, financial reporting hierarchies, and data models, and work with IT / Operations to maintain data integrity and system effectiveness.Lead the transition from ASNPO to GRE reporting, including mapping current policies and disclosures, identifying gaps and required changes, coordinating with auditors and advisors, and designing sustainable processes, controls, and templates under the new framework.Own budget‑to‑actual reporting and variance analysis across departments, projects, and funding streams, proactively investigating drivers, identifying risks and opportunities, and proposing concrete actions or trade‑offs to leadership.Serve as a key contact for the annual audit and other assurance activities related to corporate accounting and reporting, preparing working papers and analyses, responding to auditor queries, and clearly explaining complex or unusual transactions and positions.Design, document, and oversee internal controls and process improvements related to corporate accounting, close, reporting, cash management, and GRE compliance, collaborating with the Operations Coordinator on the broader risk and policy framework.Partner cross‑functionally (including with the Corporate Reporting Advisor, Operations Coordinator, and department leaders) to ensure accurate financial treatment of activities, support system and process changes, and promote data‑driven decision‑making across the organization.

Qualifications / Skills

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or 3–5 years of progressive experience in corporate accounting and / or financial analysis in a complex environment.Demonstrated advanced analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends or anomalies, and provide clear, data‑driven insights and recommendations to support decision‑making.Proven full‑cycle accounting and financial reporting experience, including general ledger management, month‑end close, reconciliations, preparation / review of financial statements and supporting schedules, and coordination of audits and external reviews.Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, including coordinating budget cycles, preparing budget / forecast analyses and presentations for leadership / boards.Strong data and systems fluency, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid working knowledge of cloud‑based accounting / ERP and reporting / BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau or similar), with the ability to build models, dashboards, and analytical reports.Knowledge of Canadian not‑for‑profit / public sector accounting frameworks (e.g., ASNPO, PSAS) and a strong interest in or experience with transitioning to GRE reporting, combined with high attention to detail, strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning. Awareness of the Health Professions Act and Health Professions and Occupations Act and their application to the work of CHCPBC.Awareness of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019) and Action Plan (2022-2027) and their application to the work of CHCPBC, including awareness of a distinctions-based approach related to Indigenous Peoples.Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), the In Plain Sight Report’s 24 recommendations specific to healthcare in BC (2020), and the 231 Calls for Justice in Reclaiming Power and Place : National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Final Report (2019) and how they intersect across the health care system.Commitment to ongoing learning related to Indigenous cultural safety and humility.

Salary & Benefits

The full-time compensation for this position is $94,009-$117,512 annually based on a 37.5-hour work week.The starting salary will be determined based on factors such as the successful candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience; salaries of other employees in the same salary range; market conditions and other relevant factors.The College provides competitive compensation and an attractive benefit package.We have a flexible work environment that includes a hybrid / remote work model with an assigned schedule.
