Job description

Time Commitment : One hour per week for a minimum of six months. Teach a class at a fixed regular time, and / or be able to substitute for a class when possible.

Minimum Age : 16

Location(s) : Available at various YMCA Centres in the Greater Toronto Area.

Program Description

YMCA group fitness classes are big, friendly workout parties that make exercise fun and inspiring. In our Aquafit classes, members stretch and strengthen in the pool, where resistance from the water gives a solid workout without straining the body. AquaFit Strength classes focus on muscle conditioning, using a mix of equipment and good old-fashioned water resistance. AquaFit Stretch classes are all about relaxation and improving flexibility.

Major Duties

Major Duties May Include :

  • Arriving on time in uniform, with music, prepared to deliver a class.
  • Providing a quality Aquafit fitness class that includes all members regardless of age and ability.
  • Taking action to ensure members are safe when participating at the YMCA.
  • Being positive, helpful and welcoming at all times.
  • Responding or directing participant inquiries or concerns.
  • Building relationships with members and introducing them to other members, staff and volunteers.
  • Delivering YMCA service responsibly, honestly, respectfully and with care.

Qualifications

  • Volunteers age 18 and above will need to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening from their local police service before their first day of volunteering and every three years on the anniversary of their first day of volunteering.
  • Current YMCA Group Fitness Certification with the designation in the stream the leader will be instructing.
  • Current First Aid and Current CPR A recommended.
  • Strong communications skills, team player, with initiative.
  • Commitment to YMCA Mission, Vision and Values.
