Job descriptionGeneral manufacturing Industrial setting Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables Set up and adjust production machineries / tools Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers) Set up and operate conventional and computer controlled machine tools Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments Use machining tools to fabricate or recondition parts Set up machines Apply quality control procedure Operate machining tools to fabricate parts Set up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines and grinders Ensure all drill bits, end bills, precision cutters and lathe tools are kept sharp Machinist Trade Certification Micrometers Calibre Verniers Milling machines Surface grinders Universal grinders Lathes and other machining tools Milling Boring Custom machining Custom fabrication Machining Ability to work independently Standing for extended periods Attention to detail Tools Steel-toed safety boots Accurate Dependability Efficient interpersonal skills Initiative Team player Dental plan Disability benefits Health care plan Paramedical services coverage Group insurance benefits Life insurance Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) Long-term care insurance Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP) Free parking available Paid time off (volunteering or personal days) Team building opportunities Travel insurance Wellness program
