Mainframe Developer || Mississauga, ON (Hybrid) || Contract

Job Overview: We are looking for a skilled Senior Mainframe Developer to join our technology team in Mississauga. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mainframe technologies strong problem-solving skills and experience delivering complex enterprise solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain enhance and modernize critical mainframe applications in a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design develop enhance and support mainframe applications using COBOL JCL and DB2.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Perform unit testing debugging and performance tuning of mainframe programs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA DevOps Business Analysts) to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support production systems and provide timely issue resolution.
• Contribute to mainframe modernization or integration projects (where applicable).

Technical Skills & Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field.
• 7 years of hands-on experience in Mainframe application development.
• Strong proficiency in COBOL JCL DB2 VSAM and CICS.
• Experience with file handling batch processing and online transaction systems.
• Working knowledge of SQL and stored procedures.
• Experience in debugging tools (Expeditor Abend-AID) and version control (Endevor Changeman).
• Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Familiarity with mainframe modernization tools APIs or integration with distributed systems is a plus.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in migration or re-platforming mainframe applications.
• Exposure to DevOps pipelines Git or cloud integration (AWS Mainframe Modernization).
• Familiarity with Rexx scripting or assembler programming.
