Environmental Science

Richmond, Abbotsford, Victoria or Kelowna, BC

Pinchin is seeking a motivated individual to join our Environmental Science (ENS) team as a Project Manager based in either our Richmond, Abbotsford, Victoria or Kelowna offices.

The Project Manager will report to the Operations Manager. They will contribute to the growth and trajectory of the group. The successful candidate will be expected to prepare proposals; manage budgets and schedules; design and direct the implementation of biological and other environmental work; be responsible for report timelines; clearly communicate with team and client; facilitate positive internal and external relationships; and assist with strategic business development.

A Day in the life of a Project Manager at Pinchin,  Responsibilities Include :

  • Lead and manage the implementation of aquatic, terrestrial, vegetation and / or wildlife projects
  • Assign and support staff in delivering on biological and other environmental consulting projects including restoration, permitting, and multidisciplinary projects
  • Enjoy working and contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment
  • While the position is primarily office-based, there are opportunities and periodic requirements to attend to the field for certain projects and to leverage your technical expertise

What you bring to the Pinchin team :

  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience within environmental consulting and / or regulatory agencies (or equivalent experience)
  • Masters or degree or diploma in fisheries biology / management, biological sciences, wildlife or water / environmental engineering
  • Registered with the College of Applied Biology as a Registered Professional Biologist), Registered Professional Forrester, Professional Engineer or related considered an asset
  • Applied experience and skills assessing and classifying watercourses, identifying wetlands, and assessing wildlife and their habitats considered an asset
  • Ability to understand, communicate and navigate solutions for fish and fish habitat, wildlife habitat, and streams on client projects
  • Proven ability to safely manage and / or lead field assessments of two to four people in a variety of settings and conditions considered an asset
  • Preparing and managing the preparation of regulatory applications for approval and comprehensive knowledge associated with navigating and interpreting local government environmental bylaws, Provincial Water Sustainability Act, Riparian Areas Protection Regulation, Federal Fisheries Act, Migratory Bird Convention Act, and Species at Risk Act considered an asset
  • Strong technical writing and review skills in a consulting or regulatory environment (or equivalent)
  • Ability to work in Canada with a valid Canadian driver’s license
