Position Description

At CGI, we are seeking a Senior Java Backend Developer (7+ years) to join our Financial Services Technology team, where you will lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance backend systems supporting mission-critical financial operations. In this role, you’ll architect and optimize platforms that power transaction processing, data services, and fund operations within a dynamic, agile environment. This is a permanent full-time position, working five days onsite at our Halifax, NS or Moncton, NB

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Design and develop multi-layered backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and PL / SQL.
• Build RESTful APIs and microservices with a strong focus on scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and transactional SQL in Oracle or DB2.
• Drive CI / CD automation using Jenkins, Git, and uDeploy.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to enhance monitoring, resiliency, and release automation pipelines.
• Lead code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure high-quality, reliable delivery.
• Troubleshoot and resolve cross-technology challenges while contributing to continuous process improvement initiatives.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000–$125,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
