We’re seeking a dedicated Senior Backend Developer to work within our Product Development group. You'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects including greenfield products, improving existing features, paying down technical debt (yup, we really do it!), and everything in between.
This role is an opportunity for you to really make a high impact and build as we enter our next phase of growth. We’re looking for someone that not only will be driving new feature development, but ensuring best practices are top of mind.
Key Responsibilities
- Your time will be divided between new features, improvements, repaying technical debt, and improving existing features
- You'll prioritize and work on multiple projects from start to finish, balancing quality, stability, and project delivery
- You'll review your teammates' work, help set high standards, and look for ways to improve the overall quality of our codebase
- You'll work within your team to achieve technical excellence by taking a collaborative approach to architecture, technical patterns, and complex problems

You’ve worked on a product development team that has delivered features and services from beginning to endYou've designed and developed services that handle millions of requestsYou’re able to innovate through iteration. Breaking down product features into shippable value incrementsYou've worked closely with engineering peers, product and design members to create high quality products that customers love to useYou’ve successfully helped your teams prioritize work to maximize quality, stability and project deliveryThrough code reviews and peer feedback, you advocate for high standards and look for ways to improve the overall quality of our codebaseYou take a collaborative approach to architecture, technical patterns, and complex problemsYou have experience working in a fully remote environmentYou have 5+ years of professional experience with PHP, including PHP 8+ and the modern PHP ecosystemYou have deep experience with PHP frameworks such as LaravelYou have 4+ years experience working on large scale SaaS applications (no CMS please)You are well-versed in various design patterns and know where to apply themYou have deep experience crafting optimized RDBMS queriesYou have experience leading technical discovery, architectural planning, and technical scoping on your teamYou have a high bar for quality and hold yourself and your peers accountable to itYou proactively take on challenges from start to finishYou’re good at unblocking yourself and your team to keep things movingOur Stack

Our base salary for this role ranges from $108,100 - $162,200 / year CAD . Compensation is determined by factors such as market salary data within Canada, technical skills, previous work history, and internal pay equity. Many positions also include additional variable compensation, which our Talent Acquisition team will discuss with you during the interview process.
