As the Senior Manager, Actuarial, you will contribute to the overall success of the Insurance Canada division, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.
You will also ensure activities conducted comply with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will :
Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
Responsible for IFRS17 valuation :
Oversee the running of the IFRS17 valuation
Manage the IFRS17 models and oversee enhancements
Oversee annual Experience Studies and Assumption updates
Approve IFRS17 actuarial outputs
Review and reconcile financial results
Subject matter expert in IFRS17 reporting and explaining variances in results
Financial modelling and forecasting
Ownership of financial models used to project business cash flows
Forecasting cash flows for new and existing initiatives and business casing
Produce cash flows for annual planning and quarterly forecasting
Manage relationships with various internal stakeholders for the development of assumptions and modelling.
Provide product profitability reviews and recommendations on any product changes (i.e. premiums, features, etc.)
Assist senior management with data analysis for business insights
Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of the respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML / ATF / sanctions and conduct risk

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have :
Fellowship or close to Fellowship in the Canadian Institute of Actuaries or Society of Actuaries or equivalency
Experience and expertise with IFRS17 valuation
Multiple years of related work experience in Life and Health Insurance, or related consulting experience
Proficiency in advanced excel and Moody's AXIS and Risk Integrity software or other actuarial modelling software
Proficiency in analytics software including PowerBI is an asset.
Strong technical and stakeholder management skills
